The National Spanish Exam -- More than 140,000 students worldwide take a 90-minute comprehensive exam covering the areas of vocabulary, grammar, reading and listening. The exam is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. (AATPS)
To achieve a gold medal, students score in the top 5 percent of their level. Silver and Bronze medals are awarded for the top 15 and 25 percent, respectively.
In addition to the National Spanish Exam, TJ students also successfully compete in the National Latin Exam competition each year.Students in TJ's Chinese language program compete in the Regional Chinese Speech Contest in the Kansas City area each year, and typically earn top awards in the categories in which they compete.
