FOUNTAIN CITY BRASS BAND

America’s top brass band, the virtuoso musicians under the direction of Dr. Joseph Parisi, present a varied program including holiday classics, familiar folk tunes, ballads, Broadway and Hollywood favorites, marches, and classical and contemporary masterworks. Founded in 2002 in Kansas City, this wonderfully spirited band is now in its 11th season, and continues to perform throughout America and abroad as the current U.S. Open Brass Band Champions.
FAMILY THEATER: THE KAMIKAZE FIREFLIES
Thursday, Jan. 10, at 4 p.m.
The Kamikaze Fireflies perform for audiences all over the world. The show is a mix of comedy and circus: juggling, hula hoops, German wheel, whip cracking, and many tricks never seen anywhere else. The Seattle Times said they gave a “near riotous end to the show.” They received a standing ovation in the semifinal rounds of America’s Got Talent, and receive rave reviews everywhere they go. Howard Stern called the show “Fantastic & Captivating.”
HEARTLAND OPERA THEATRE: La bohème by Giacomo Puccini
Friday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m.
An all-time favorite opera for many people, La bohème is an opera in four acts, composed by Giacomo Puccini to an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, based on Scènes de la vie de bohème
by Henri Murger. The world premiere performance of La bohème
was in Turin on Feb. 1, 1896 at the Teatro Regio, conducted by the young Arturo Toscanini; its U.S. premiere took place the following year, 1897, in Los Angeles. The story of love and loss is a classic, and the music of Giacomo Puccini is lush and inspiring.

ArtsPower’s heart-warming musical, based on Lucy Maud Montgomery’s beloved novels, follows Anne on her unlikely journey to find the family she’s always wanted.

With its unique jazz sound, the World-Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra is considered to be one of the greatest bands of all time. The present Glenn Miller Orchestra was formed in 1956 and has been touring consistently since, playing an average of 300 live dates a year all around the world.
