TJ Students Earn 3rd in the Nation at National History Day Contest
AMAZING! — 3rd in the NATION! Congratulations to rising 9th Grade sisters Alizeh and Sania Hammad, who EARNED 3rd PLACE in the U.S. last week at the 2019 National History Day Contest at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md. Their Junior Group Documentary entry, “Deeds not words: the tragedy suffered and the triumph secured by the British Suffragettes,” earned 2nd Place overall in the Missouri state competition in April, and that win qualified them to compete in the national contest. This is the second year in a row that TJ students have competed at the national level in this competition, and this is the first time in school history that TJ students placed in the Top-3 at the nationals. Nearly 3,000 students from around the U.S. competed, and they represented the best of student projects from each state and U.S. territory.
