David Harris came to TJ in 2019 from the University of Central Arkansas, where he finished his Masters in Global History. His dissertation explores American-Japanese diplomatic relations during the early 20^th century, and his work has been nationally recognized by the Association of Asian Studies. Originally hailing from New Orleans, Mr. Harris has been an avid proponent of the value of a liberal arts education from a young age, based on his experience at boarding school and undergraduate study at Hendrix College. His historical research interests include Modern East Asia, 19^th and 20^th century Imperialism, and World Systems Theory.
