Thomas Jefferson believes in educating the entire person, creating a well-rounded individual that will be successful in many areas of life. The athletic program at TJ offers a supplemental education, expanding on the values that are learned in the classroom. At TJ, our students are taught to strive for excellence. Since everyone can participate regardless of experience or skill level, students are able to try several different sports during each school year. They often find talent they didn't know they had, and are able to improve because they get time to play. This philosophy of inclusivity in our athletic programs is unique, and allows our coaches to focus on the development of skills, the principles of teamwork and dedication, and the individual needs of each athlete to ensure personal success.
Through its membership in the Missouri State High School Activities Association, Thomas Jefferson is able to participate with other schools in a wide variety of activities. Thomas Jefferson is a member of the Ozark 7 Conference. Other schools in that conference are McAuley, Southwest, Wheaton, Verona, Exeter, and Purdy.
